EHCIF/Kentucky Career Center Building
April marked the beginning of construction on the new Kentucky Career Center Lincoln Trail and Elizabethtown/Hardin County Industrial Foundation Building. Located at 233 Ring Road in the Hughes Center for Commerce and Industry, the new location will be a 19,000-plus square-foot building that will be the new home to both organizations.
The Kentucky Career Center, which includes The Office of Employment and Training, Office for the Blind, Office of Vocational Rehabilitation and Workforce Investment Board representatives, will all be housed in one building when the center opens in early 2015. Having all partner agencies under one roof that work together daily to better help Kentucky workforce initiatives for both job seekers and employers will provide an opportunity for services to be more functionally streamlined and convenient for all customers.
Helping job seekers find employment will be a top priority of the career center. Whether it’s career coaching, access to local job openings, referrals or professional resume services, the center will have all the tools needed to help Kentuckians prepare for seeking employment.
The Kentucky Career Center has free Wi-Fi and Internet access, unemployment insurance claim filing assistance, employment services for military veterans and individuals with special needs and other education and training opportunities in addition to services and resources that complement a job search.
Elizabethtown businesses and other area employers will have the same level of high-quality services at their disposal including talent recruitment assistance; candidate pre-screening and assessment; free use of onsite conference space to conduct interviews; coordination of job fairs and hiring events; tax credit incentive programs; free access to Kentucky’s online job posting portal; and business services representatives available to provide personalized support.
The Elizabethtown/Hardin County Industrial Foundation is moving its offices into an adjoining part of the building. This move to the industrial park will give the foundation the ability to respond to industry needs in a more efficient manner. Its offices also will feature a “business incubator” area that can be used by new manufacturing firms locating in Elizabethtown and needing a temporary work place.
Additionally, there will be a state-of-the-art meeting room available for manufacturers to use as an offsite training facility/meeting space.
The building is being constructed by Jenkins-Essex Construction Company is expected to be finished and available for occupancy early in 2015.
