January Manufacturer of the Month: Summit Polymers

Elizabethtown and Hardin County are home to many manufacturers that are innovative leaders in their industries as well as vital contributors to our region’s economy. EHCIF’s Manufacturer of the Month is an opportunity to recognize these companies and increase awareness of the manufacturing activity happening every day right here in the Elizabethtown area.

Summit Polymers, a leading supplier of injection molded plastics and automotive interior components, established its Elizabethtown facility on West Park Road in 1999 and has grown from 80 to 180-plus employees.

The highly automated facility manufacturers consoles, panels and other interior components used in a long list of vehicles, which includes the Ford Super Duty and Expedition assembled at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville. You also would find Summit Polymers parts in Nissan’s Leaf, Pathfinder, Frontier and Titan, among other makes and models. The team at Summit Polymers produces an average of 1.5 million parts each month.

The facility, currently about 158,000 square feet, continues to grow. A 27,000 square-foot expansion is underway and will allow for the additional production space needed to meet growing demand as Summit begins manufacturing components for the Ford Escape and Lincoln MKC.

At Elizabethtown-Hardin County Industrial Foundation, we’re proud to count Summit Polymers as a member of our thriving industrial community. We’re thankful for their contribution to Elizabethtown’s growth and congratulate the company on an exciting new expansion.
