Join Us for Manufacturing Month this October

Connecting middle and high school students with local manufacturers transforms outdated factory stereotypes into clear pathways toward high-tech, high-paying careers.

Every October, Elizabethtown/Hardin County Industrial Foundation (EHCIF) celebrates Manufacturing Month  to showcase the modern, highly skilled, and innovative world of industry in our region. Right here in Elizabethtown and Hardin County, manufacturing serves as an economic powerhouse, driving local growth, technological advancement, and job creation. However, to keep our regional economy thriving, we must build a strong talent pipeline for tomorrow.

Why Manufacturing Month Matters for Hardin County

Today’s manufacturing environment isn’t what it was decades ago. It is driven by advanced robotics, automated systems, 3D printing, and precision engineering. Inspiring the next generation of innovators requires pulling back the curtain so students can see these career paths firsthand. By engaging students during their critical middle and high school years, we help them discover rewarding careers in engineering, logistics, machine operation, and plant management right in their home county.

How Local Businesses & Industry Partners Can Get Involved

EHCIF invites local companies to open their doors and lend their expertise to area students this October. You can participate in two key ways:

  • Host Facility Tours for High School Students: Give high schoolers a behind-the-scenes look at your operations. Guided facility tours allow students to see production lines in action, observe high-tech machinery, and interact with your engineers, technicians, and apprentices.
  • Lead In-Classroom Lessons for Middle School Students: Send team members into local middle school classrooms to host interactive activities. Engaging students with hands-on challenges like basic robotics demonstrations or assembly line re-engineering sparks early interest in STEM and technical careers. New this year, our team will help you create a custom lesson plan that will showcase your business with an engaging activity.

How to Sign Up

Partnering with local schools is quick and simple. You can register your company to host a tour or lead a classroom session:
