August Manufacturer of the Month: Clinton Industries, Inc.
Elizabethtown and Hardin County are home to many manufacturers that are innovative leaders in their industries as well as vital contributors to our region’s economy. EHCIF’s Manufacturer of the Month is an opportunity to recognize these companies and increase awareness of the manufacturing activity happening every day right here in the Elizabethtown area.
Established in 1967, Clinton Industries, Inc. is one of Elizabethtown’s oldest manufacturers and a vital supplier to many industries in the area. When manufacturers customize production lines to meet their specific needs, they design distinctive parts that simply can’t be bought off the shelf. They turn to Clinton Industries to manufacture those custom parts.
Starting with a raw material like a block of steel or aluminum and a customer’s CADD drawing, Clinton Industries’ skilled machinists use a variety of modern machines to produce the parts. They may use machines that grind away material or slice it away one staple-sized bit at a time. They may also employ a highly precise machining method called electrical discharge machining. This advanced method uses an electrode to erode away material to create, for instance, a tapered shape inside a cube of steel.
Clinton Industries has seen tremendous technological advances in the machining
field and has continued to invest in its facilities, located on Valley Creek Road. With about 75 percent of its work supporting local manufacturing facilities like Akebono, Fischbach and others, we’re proud the company has sustained its success as a supporting industry in Elizabethtown’s thriving manufacturing community. A family business, the company was founded by Bill Schaffrick. His son Clint Schaffrick joined the company in 1972 and now serves as president.
