Operations Supervisor

This role will include overseeing all aspects of manufacturing production at the department level along with executing management’s plans and achieving goals of manufacturing products at the lowest possible cost consistent with safety and quality requirements. Some of the main duties this position is responsible for include overseeing a 3 shift operation, receiving orders for products and developing a plan for how to fulfill the orders, including collaborating with engineers and plant manager(s) on how much of the necessary materials to buy and what employees to schedule and when. This role will also involve monitoring the quantity and quality of products made to ensure that order deadlines are met and company production standards are maintained.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee hourly staff responsible for the production of department products to include sheet metal components, stamped parts, and basic assemblies
- Supervise and train employees on the operation of plant equipment including but not limited to turret punches, press brakes, stamping presses and shears as required to ensure that productivity goals of the department are achieved
- Work with GM to assign and designate accountabilities by planning and monitoring workloads, creating employee schedules, and appraising all job results
- Set up equipment including but not limited to press brakes, turret punches, stamping presses, shears and tooling
- Collaborate with corporate staff and GM to plan purchases of materials, obtain vendor quotes, and balance and account for all shop inventory
- Troubleshoot problems and initiate repairs on plant equipment and work together with Maintenance Tech to upkeep machinery
- Ensure that all plant activities and manufacturing is conducted in accordance with all health, safety, and environmental rules and that all quality specifications are adhered to
- Oversee shipping responsibilities to coordinate the delivery of finished product to customers
- Strive to increase management’s effectiveness by recruiting, orienting, and training hourly employees
- Communicate and demonstrate core values, strategies, and objectives to all shop employees
- Initiate, implement, and maintain proper and effective safety policies and procedures on a daily basis
- Ensure all department activities are conducted within Company policies, guidelines and procedures
- Collaborate with engineering department to refine processes and product design
Desired Skills, Education and Experience:
- Military background is ideal; technical certification or associate degree preferred; high school diploma is required
- At least 3-5+ years of fabrication and/or manufacturing exposure and exceptional supervisory level experience
- Mandatory experience with press brake set up and operation
- Naturally hands on with a willingness to learn
- Willingness to travel when the need arises (up to 25%) both domestic and international
- Prioritization Skills: will need to be able to manage workload coupled with the desire and motivation to spearhead different projects or group initiatives in both a team and individual setting
- Detail-oriented and organized; hit the ground running, self-driven, autonomous and function with limited supervision
- Demonstrate a strong, upbeat personality – leadership mentality, assertive, with a sense of urgency

- Excellent communication skills: must be able to easily convey technical ideas to non-technical customers
