Job Title: Lab Technician
Reports To: Process Engineering Manager
I. Position Purpose:
Insures that the chemistry is properly maintained in the assigned plating, chromating and coating lines in order to achieve maximum quality and production. Specific duties include conducting regular tests on the chemistry in the lines and determining the correct adjustments to the automatic feeds and/or chemical additions to the lines. Also responsible for insuring that the proper chemicals are at each line and that the proper adds are made by the production personnel. This position is also responsible for insuring that all chemical adds are properly recorded. Works closely with the Process Engineering Manager in the development of improvements to the production lines.
II. Performance Measurements:
Assures that the assigned lines meet all quality, production and cost standards.
Completes all required tests in a timely manner.
Insures that the proper chemicals are used at process lines.
Assures that the chemistry is being added as assigned to maintain processes.
Makes suggestions for improvements to management.
Insures that Lab is neat and clean.
Conducts all assignments in a safe manner.
Works all scheduled regular and overtime hours.
III. Essential Job Functions:
Conducts all required testing including hull cell.
Works with the Process Engineer to determine the proper chemicals adds/adjustments.
Insures that production personnel make all required chemical adds/adjustments.
Performs daily housekeeping.
Works closely with Management to monitor and investigate chemical usage.
Suggests ratio changes from automatic feeders to Process Engineering Manager.
Participates in the investigation of quality issues.
Perform other duties as assigned by Process Engineer.
IV. Minimum Requirements
Able to read and understand process plans
Able to conduct and interpret all required tests.
Able to proficiently use Excel programs.
Maintain chemical trend charts by process.
Able to lift a minimum of 35 pounds.
Able to successfully complete and pass all formal chemical training.
Minimum of 1 – 2 years chemistry training.
